New deal will ensure NBC to broadcast “Sunday Night Football” for two more years

The 32 teams of the NFL approved a contract extension on Wednesday, ensuring that the NBC will be allowed to continue broadcasting “Sunday Night Football” through 2013.

The deal was approved at an owners Wednesday in Chicago. It was originally a six-year deal and is now extended to an eight-year contract.

Under the terms of the contract, NBC will continue to broadcast 16 regular-season Sunday night games, the Thursday night season opener, and both wild-card Saturday games. During the final seven weeks of the regular season, the network is allowed to make flexible schedule and change which game it shows to ensure the matchup has playoff implications.
